As part of the Big Draw festival and following on from the success of our Tate Modern workshop, StoryHands is offering the chance to flex your drawing, looking and imagining muscles and to discover a side of London you might not have seen before. Using unique recycled drawing materials, embark on a guided walk and scavenger hunt of drawing challenges that encourage you to really look and learn about London past, present and future, and to imagine the stories that might take place in the less known corners of this amazing city.

More details of the event will be posted here as finalised, but for now if you would like to book a place for the family or adult walks please email us and we will keep you posted on all updates to the event.

The afternoon walk will leave at 1.30 from the London Monument on the 18th of October and the 1st of November and is suitable for all ages, but please be prepared to walk a distance of around 2 miles.

The evening walk will leave at 6.30 from a pub (tbc) on the same days and is suitable for over 18s only – drinking is not compulsory, and please be prepared to remain capable of walking a distance of around 2 miles.

It’s Our World is the theme of this years Big Draw and as well as acting responsibly and using recycled materials, this adventurous day out will also highlight how important it is to make the most of what our world has to offer – by noticing and appreciating what we see around us in the city.

Weather will be taken into account and some indoor locations substituted on the route in the occasion of rain, however this is still a walking tour and so even if there is a howling gale we will proceed to walk outdoors – dress for the forecast is therefore recommended, and comfortable shoes a must whatever the weather. The route is secret, but total walking distance will be around 2 miles, beginning at the London Monument and concluding at St Paul’s cathedral. Please email to book your place and ensure you arrive at the meeting place promptly so we can complete the walk in good time.

During the course of the walk there will be drawing activities prompted by the things you see and find as part of your Big Draw London Sketchbook Scavenger Hunt – and at the end of the walk you will have your own art journal documenting the day’s adventures to take home with you. There will also be the opportunity to see the professional StoryHands artists in action as we complete the same tasks, and to buy cards, prints and books by the StoryHands artists.
